Introducing our newest collection: Protea, inspired by nature’s strength and grace. The Protea Collection celebrates hidden details and thoughtful craftsmanship, for those who appreciate beauty from every angle. All engagement rings and wedding bands are designed in-house at Moi Moi Fine Jewellery, with this collection featuring petal gallery engagement rings and matching tiara style bands.
Our lead jewellery designer, Janet had this to say about the collection:
“I love designing pieces that reveal something special when you take a closer look. With the Protea Collection, I wanted each piece to have details that feel personal and intentional—delicate petal galleries, soft curves and thoughtful touches you might only notice when the ring is in your hands, or on your finger. It’s those hidden elements that make this collection truly special.”
Our master jewellers bring Moi Moi’s visions to life, meticulously crafted in 18K yellow, white or rose gold, with your choice of premium lab grown diamonds or SUPERNOVA Moissanite, offering beautiful options to suit a wide range of styles and budgets.

The story behind the Protea Collection
The Protea Collection has been a long time in the making. It all began when our founders had a poignant trip to South Africa and were inspired by the native flower, the Protea. Moi Moi’s first Protea engagement ring launched in late 2017, with a petal gallery inspired by the iconic shape of South Africa’s national flower.
Lauren Sommer, Moi Moi’s co-founder says:
“My father and I travelled to South Africa in 2017 and were fortunate to collaborate with many inspiring leaders in the South African jewellery industry. The country’s natural beauty left a lasting impression on us — it felt strong, confident, raw and mystical. The native Protea flower, also familiar to us in Australia, perfectly embodied these qualities.
“We paid tribute to the Protea in our earliest designs, incorporating its form into the gallery of our rings. And so, the first Moi Moi Protea Collection was born. To our delight, this design remains cherished to this day. We’re proud to now celebrate Janet’s beautiful additions to this special collection.”
The Protea Collection includes four brand new petal gallery engagement rings—Coral, Monet, Petunia and Primrose—in a variety of cuts. These new designs are joined by seven pre-existing styles: Amelia, Correa, Gum Blossom, Lily, Passion, Peony and Protea.
In addition, we’ve also introduced four new tiara-style wedding bands: Edith, Hayden, Sofie and Soraya. These tiara shaped wedding bands are a beautiful pairing with all the Protea petal gallery engagement rings.
These wedding bands not only stack well with engagement rings from our Protea Collection, they also complement other Moi Moi engagement rings. They can also be worn on their own or in a stack with other bands.
“The true hero of this collection is the petal gallery,” says Janet. “It’s really what sets these engagement rings apart from our existing designs and our customers are telling us that this feature is hot.”
What is a ring gallery, and why does it matter?
The gallery refers to the area beneath the centre stone or setting in a ring where your centre Moissanite or lab grown diamond sits and connects the centre stone to the band.
The gallery plays a key role in both the structural integrity of your ring as well as the ring’s overall appearance, as it’s visible when viewing the ring from the side. Because of this, the gallery can be decorative as well as functional, incorporating fine details like filigree and gemstones, and can also allow light to enter, enhancing the brilliance of the centre stone.
Our signature petal gallery is both functional and decorative, securing your centre stone while paying homage to the Protea flower, without being immediately visible from the top view.
What makes a petal gallery unique?
Petal-shaped prongs are the defining feature of petal gallery engagement rings—small, sculpted shapes that curve upwards, resembling flower petals. The effect is elegant and romantic yet subtle, and only really noticeable when viewed from the side.
While it may look just like any other prong-set engagement ring when viewed from above, it’s anything but!
In a standard prong setting, the gallery is often plain or purely structural. In a petal gallery, the gallery becomes a design feature. It’s intended to catch the eye from the side, while other galleries may have a simple or minimal side profile.
You might be wondering, does a petal gallery distract from the centre stone? The answer is: No. Rather, it’s designed to complement it. Unlike halos or ornate settings that very obviously frame the centre stone from above, a petal gallery adds subtle beauty without taking attention away from the main diamond or gemstone. It’s the kind of hidden detail that makes the ring feel special and thoughtfully crafted, especially for the wearer.
If anything, a petal gallery can make the centre stone feel even more special, by showing the care and consideration taken in the design. The level of craftsmanship required to make the perfect petal gallery engagement ring far exceeds that of a standard setting.
“A petal gallery may look effortless, but every curve and contour is carefully crafted by hand to create a seamless flow beneath the centre stone,” says Janet. “The metalwork is far more intricate and requires exceptional care, precision and artistry.”
Additionally, because it’s part of the gallery and visible from the side profile, a petal gallery doesn’t impact comfort or how it sits upon your finger.
Why choose a petal gallery for your engagement ring?
Moi Moi’s Protea Collection, with its signature petal gallery, offers a unique feature that is subtle and timeless.
“When customers ask for a little extra detail in their engagement ring that won’t be overbearing, we often suggest a petal basket,” says Leah. “We’re able to offer them that uniqueness, but it’s also timeless.”
The petal gallery is perfect for those with an eye for fine craftsmanship. It’s the kind of artistry you only really notice when you hold the ring, turn it over and admire it up close. Romantic, delicate and beautifully made, a petal gallery adds a personal touch that goes beyond trend-driven design.
If you’re drawn to details that others might miss and love the idea of a ring that feels uniquely yours, our petal gallery engagement rings are the perfect choice.

Coral
Coral is an updated version of our existing Correa design, one of our most popular original petal gallery engagement rings. Coral features a cathedral setting with a stone-set bridge on a classic petal basket. It’s available in 3 core sizes: 7.5mm, 8.0mm and 9mm.
Petunia
Available in round and oval cuts in a 6-prong setting, Petunia sits upon a ¾ encrusted band with a petal gallery that subtly interlocks at the base. This ring is best suited for larger centre stones to enable the interlocked petal detail to show through properly.
Primrose
This 4-prong cathedral engagement ring comes in five shapes: oval, cushion, emerald, radiant and princess, all with a stone-set bridge and under-rail. The under-rail adds additional support to the basket, which is quite curved and open, as well as an extra touch of luxe.
Monet
Similar to Primrose minus the stone-set under-rail, Monet is available in a 5-pronged pear cut and a very on-trend 6-pronged marquise cut.
Correa
This classic solitaire design features a stunning round brilliant centre stone in an elegant floral basket, with the band extending into a delicately smooth, tapered finish. Unlike Coral, Correa doesn’t have a stone-encrusted bridge. Correa is one of our original petal gallery engagement rings, a design that remains popular today.
Protea
The ring that inspired it all! The very first of our signature petal gallery engagement rings, this 6-prong solitaire engagement ring features an open petal gallery and a contemporary split band.
Gum Blossom
With alternating long and short prongs that together are reminiscent of a waratah or King Protea, Gum Blossom is a gorgeous blend of delicate detail and bold sparkle.
Lily
This classic solitaire engagement ring features a stunning round brilliant in a petal basket with alternating long and short prongs (like Gum Blossom), sitting atop a contemporary split band for a touch of modern luxe.
Peony
Similar to Lily, Peony features a split band and a simple, elegant, petal-shaped basket.
Amelia
For a little extra sparkle and luxury, Amelia features a timeless, graduating, encrusted band in addition to an elegant protea-inspired petal gallery.
Passion
With a classic pave-encrusted band and a petal-inspired open gallery, Passion radiates elegance and sparkle.
What is a tiara wedding band?
A tiara-style wedding band is designed to frame your engagement ring when stacked together. They’ll typically be arched, curved, pointed or scalloped, and often have diamond or gemstone accents. This creates the effect of a delicate crown or tiara when worn alongside an engagement ring.
Tiara wedding bands have become increasingly popular among modern brides wanting a wedding set that feels both intentional and beautifully styled.
“Today’s brides are often looking for rings that go beyond tradition,” says Lauren. “They want stacks that tell a story, feel unique and reflect their personal style. A tiara band offers that perfect balance of classic romance and contemporary design.”
Tiara wedding bands are loved for how they frame and highlight the engagement ring. However, their versatility means they can also be worn on their own or as part of a stack with other bands.
For those asking, “Will a tiara wedding band sit flush with my engagement ring?”, it’s important to note that the answer is: not always. Whether the band sits flush will depend on the shape and size of your engagement ring and the centre stone. To remove any doubt, it’s best to book an in-person consultation with a dedicated member of our sales team to discuss your options and to try on our wedding bands in person.

Soraya
This unique wedding band features a fine inner row of stones and an outer row of larger, graduating prong set stones. With her curved shape, Soraya works particularly well with more elongated centre stones, such as pear and emerald cuts.
Sofie
Showcasing a series of stones with a pear-cut melee at the centre, Sofie is the ultimate tiara-style wedding band. With a dramatic, steep dip, this band is particularly well-suited to pairing with elongated cuts, such as oval and marquise.
Edith
Stone-encrusted and with a simple, subtle dip at the centre, our Edith Wedding Band comes in two sizes: 1.3mm and 1.5mm. This simple, elegant design pairs nicely with many gemstone cuts and works well as part of a ring stack.
Hayden
This elegant band features a graduating prong-set curved band, which looks particularly beautiful with a classic round cut solitaire engagement ring.
The Art of Bridal Stacking: How to Stack Your Rings
When it comes to creating a beautiful bridal stack, it’s all about balance. The key to creating a stunning bridal ring stack is to:
- Let the engagement ring lead—If your engagement ring features a detailed petal gallery and a clean solitaire setting, a tiara band can add soft curves and gentle sparkle without competing for attention
- Coordinate your shapes—To ensure your engagement ring sits flush against your tiara band, try matching the contours of your band with the cut of your diamond. A marquise cut, for example, needs a band with a narrow dip, while an oval cut needs a more curved band
- Balance detail with simplicity—If your engagement ring has a classic, elegant silhouette, a slightly more ornate tiara band can complement it perfectly
- Consider matching metal tones—A unified metal choice can create a seamless look, while mixing metals gives a modern edge
- Play with proportions—A daintier band flatters a larger centre stone, while a slightly bolder tiara band can enhance a more delicate engagement ring
Bridal Stacks from our Protea Collection
Petal gallery engagement rings offer subtle, intricate detail beneath the centre stone, a hidden feature that adds character without overwhelming the design. Pairing them with tiara wedding bands allows you to bring that same sense of artistry to the top of your stack.
Some of our favourite bridal ring stack ideas from our Protea Collection are:
- Monet Marquise with Sofie Band – The elongated shape of our Monet Marquise sits beautifully within the deep dip of the Sofie band. While the stones on the band add a little extra sparkle to the ensemble, the marquise centre stone of the Monet engagement ring remains the focus of the stack
- Coral Round with Soraya Band – The wide curve of our Soraya Band perfectly frames the stunning round brilliant centre stone of our Coral engagement ring
- Petunia Oval with Hayden Band – Encrusted with gemstones and with a slightly curve at the centre, Hayden perfectly frames the rounded shape of our Petunia Oval engagement ring while adding an extra sparkly layer that draws the eye right to that impressive centre stone
- Protea Round with Edith Band – With just a subtle dip at the centre, our Edith Band is easy to match with round brilliant centre stones, like that of our Protea engagement ring
