How we’re redefining the classic bezel setting with our brand new Bezel collection
We are delighted to announce the launch of our brand new Bezel Collection. Exclusively designed in-house by Moi Moi Fine Jewellery, The Bezel Collection includes a series of modern bezel rings, bands and bracelets that are unlike anything else in our range.
We were inspired by modern minimalism, with a focus on clean lines, iconic shapes and an absence of embellishment. In this collection, the gemstones do speak for themselves; they are brilliance, framed.
Our Jewellery Designer, Janet, says, “The design concept behind the Bezel collection is ‘back to basics’ with a modern approach—simple solitaires set in modernised and refined contemporary bezel settings.”
While perfectly suited to bridal moments, The Bezel Collection is expertly designed for everyday wear. The secure nature of bezel settings combined with the durability of SUPERNOVA Moissanite ensures these pieces can be worn with confidence by women with even the most active lifestyles.
If you’re someone who favours understated elegance, versatility and wearability in your jewellery, but who’s also not one to shy away from a little (or a lot) of sparkle, The Bezel Collection is for you.

The history of bezel settings
First, let’s clarify: What is a bezel setting?
A bezel setting is when a metal rim surrounds a gemstone. This metal rim is what’s known as the “bezel”. Bezel settings may also be referred to as “rubover” settings. Unlike with a prong setting, which uses metal prongs to hold a stone in place, the bezel wraps around the stone’s edge, either partially (a partial or half bezel) or completely (a full bezel).
Our Bezel collection features full bezel settings, meaning the rim fully surrounds the gemstone, thus ensuring optimal protection and security of your gemstone.
Other stylistic variations on traditional full bezel settings are also available, such as a split-bezel setting. This is where the metal rim is not continuous but is rather divided or ‘split’, creating a unique open look. A high-set bezel is another variation, in which the centre stone is positioned higher above the band than in a typical bezel setting, giving it more prominence.
Today, our Bezel collection looks sleek and contemporary; however, the origins of the Bezel setting date back thousands of years to ancient Rome, Greece and Egypt, making them one of the oldest—if not the oldest—types of gemstone settings. They were traditionally used to protect more delicate stones, such as opals, which were prone to chipping and other damage.
The bezel setting also has a lovely symbolic meaning. It’s said to represent protection and eternity, owing to the protective and continuous nature of the setting. This symbolism contributes to why bezel set engagement rings can be such a meaningful choice.
The modern appeal of bezel settings
Bezel set rings are experiencing a resurgence in popularity, with celebrities like Lily Collins, Zoe Kravitz and Phoebe Tonkin donning bezel set engagement rings in recent years (see near the end of this article for more on this).
But what makes bezel set rings so appealing today?
One of the biggest advantages of a bezel setting is the security it offers. A bezel is one of the most secure engagement ring settings you can find; the gemstone is highly unlikely to come loose over time.
Bezel settings offer the edges of your gemstone greater protection against being scratched or chipped. While there’s not much need to worry about chipping or scratching with our SUPERNOVA Moissanite or LAVANA Lab Grown Diamonds, this is still an important benefit to be aware of.
Bezel-set rings are also smooth, which helps prevent the jewellery from snagging or catching on clothing. This makes them a safer option when wearing more delicate clothing items, such as silk or knitwear.
So, from a wearability standpoint, the secure structure of bezel rings makes them ideal for active lifestyles and everyday wear—a perfect and practical choice for the modern woman. If you’re someone who works with your hands a lot, maybe in your profession, or who’s always on the go, and you’re looking for a more robust jewellery setting that can keep up with you as you go about your day, a bezel setting is the answer.
In terms of style, bezel settings create a sleek, modern, understated look that shows off more metal. The unbroken, smooth contours of the metal rim give your bezel engagement ring (or other jewellery) a more streamlined appearance that highlights the beauty of the centre stone.
A bezel setting also reduces the visual clutter sometimes caused by multiple prongs in a prong setting, which helps keep the focus on your jewel.
“When the centre stones are so impressive and so large already, as they are in our Bezel collection, you really don’t need further embellishments,” says Moi Moi Fine Jewellery Founder, Lauren. “You simply need to frame the jewel and let it speak, or shine, for itself—that’s why we’re calling the Bezel Collection ‘Brilliance, framed’.”
There is a common misconception that bezel settings result in less sparkle, but this is not the case.

How a diamond’s cut affects its sparkle
A jewel’s “sparkle” is created when light enters at the top of the jewel, bounces off the bottom and then returns to the eye. The amount a jewel sparkles is determined by how well the jewel is cut, not by the way it’s set. If it’s cut too shallow, light can be lost through the sides. If it’s cut too deeply, light will be lost through the bottom.
It’s the cut that impacts a jewel’s brilliance (its ability to reflect light), fire (its ability to disperse light into the different colours of the spectrum) and scintillation (the flashes of light or sparkle you see when a diamond moves in the light). As long as the jewel has an ideal cut, there will be no less sparkle if you opt for a bezel setting.
As with all other Moi Moi Fine Jewellery products, our team of experts will always go the extra mile to ensure we only select the most optimal jewels for these types of settings, guaranteeing superior performance and an always brilliant sparkle.
The inspiration behind The Bezel Collection
The design ethos behind The Bezel Collection was “sleek settings, iconic shapes”. We set out to redefine the classic bezel setting by creating all-new contemporary pieces that were also timeless.
This range is, of course, perfectly suited to traditional bridal moments. If you’re searching for a bezel set engagement ring, any of our Bezel Collection solitaire rings may be the right choice for you. The bracelets, as well, are the kind you may wish to reserve for special occasions; they’re certainly elegant enough.
However, The Bezel Collection’s true intention is everyday wear, with stackable rings and statement pieces you can confidently wear to work, out to lunch with friends, and when you’re on the go, adding a little luxury to your ensemble.
“These rings are not only limited to engagement styles; they can also be worn as statement styles and stacked with other rings,” says Janet. “We also have five statement band styles designed to go with the rings, and these can also be worn in a stack or on their own.”
We were inspired by modern minimalism, with clean lines and timeless shapes present throughout this collection. The bezel on these rings is set at an angle, like a bevel edge, so as not to appear too heavy. There’s no embellishment, no filigree, no distractions: the focus is entirely on the centre stone.
“This collection is for the modern, confident woman who likes a sophisticated, minimalist approach, and for those who like a simple but not boring look,” says Janet. “We wanted to revisit our true love for SUPERNOVA Moissanite with a Moissanite focused collection.”
Each piece in this collection (excluding the Roxie and Jodie wedding bands, which we’ll explore below) features fancy cuts: emerald, marquise, pear, asscher and oval—and the refraction and brilliance of SUPERNOVA Moissanite brings out the absolute best brilliance in these shapes. You’re also able to get a much larger SUPERNOVA Moissanite jewel at a great value.
“The jewels we have selected are optimal for these types of settings,” says Lauren. “Our team has gone the extra mile to select the perfect jewels, shapes and sizes to give you the best possible performance of light.” While we intended to keep the solitaire engagement rings under 2.50ct, to maintain an understated, minimalist look suitable for everyday wear, we can, as always, customise the rings to suit your preference.

A closer look at The Bezel Collection
The Bezel Collection includes rings, bands, engagement rings and bracelets, available in 18K white or yellow gold.
Bezel Set Rings
First up, we have our Lottie bezel solitaire rings, available in pear, oval, asscher and emerald cuts. This ring will sit perfectly flush with a wedding band and also works well in a ring stack. The variety of Lottie cuts available is a testament to how versatile a bezel setting can be, able to be adapted to many different stone shapes to suit your style.
Next, we have Iliana, which features a beautiful east-west emerald step-cut solitaire in a sleek bezel setting. The unconventional horizontal layout is perfect for someone who wants a modern twist on a classic shape.
Lastly, we have perhaps the most striking piece in our Bezel range, Jolene. This ring is available as an east-west marquise or an east-west pear setting in a full knife-edge band. While Jolene isn’t wedding band-flush, we love wearing this as a statement ring on the pinky or index finger.
Bezel Set Bands
The Roxie wedding band features symmetrical round bezel-set stones available in two sizes, 2mm and 2.5mm.
The round stones in Jodie are a mix of sizes, creating a more interesting and varied look, a great option for those searching for more modern wedding bands.
Lina is an emerald bezel half eternity ring, which looks lush but is set low and is therefore very wearable.
Kerry is an asymmetrical wedding band with a noticeable dip to it. This on-trend, modern bezel design matches well with rings that don’t quite sit flush with a straight wedding band. It’s also great for creating a tiara look, with one Kerry ring at the base, an engagement ring at the centre, and an inverted Kerry ring at the top.
Bezel Set Bracelets
Rounding out the collection, we have the Petra Oval Bracelet, the Perrine Emerald Bracelet, and the Priya Marquise Bracelet, which match beautifully with the shapes of the rings in this collection. We opted to emphasise fancy cuts for the Bezel collection bracelets to give them a more distinct look. While a round bezel-set bracelet is always a safe choice, these designs have a special quality to them, making them true statement pieces.
Styling the Bezel Collection
Create a ring stack
Ring stacking is when you wear multiple rings across one or several fingers, either one or both hands. This collection is full of stackable bezel rings to help you create your dream ring stack.
Start by choosing a statement piece. This might be your engagement ring or any ring with a larger centre stone. In our Bezel Collection, this could be Lottie or Iliana, for example. Pair your centrepiece ring with a band, such as Jodie or Kerry. You can then add other accent bands above or below the main pair.
We recommend a maximum of 3 to 5 rings per ring stack to avoid overloading your fingers. Aim to complement bulkier rings with daintier ones to create a nice balance. Also consider different band shapes, such as a V or wishbone-shaped band alongside a simple round band. And don’t be afraid to mix metals, such as white gold with rose gold.
Coordinate cuts and shapes.
We like to match the shapes of our Bezel rings with the Bezel bracelets. For example, we’d pair the Iliana and Lottie Emerald rings with the Lina bezel-set half eternity ring and the Emerald bracelet. We’d also pair the Jolene marquise with the Marquise bracelet, or the Jolene oval with the Oval bracelet.
