5 mins with Mademoiselle Top 12 Finalist, Alex Horder...

I want to be a model because...
I love fashion and clothes and everything that these entail. I am classy, I know how to hold myself and I'm very sophisticated. To be a model, it takes more than just pretty face. I think modelling is an expressive art form and tells a story without words. You can show movement in a still picture, and I think that is incredible to be able to have that skill. I also want to show girls my age that they don't have to be conscious about their body. They can be beautiful without being size 6.

The best fashion advice I have been given is...
To invest in the essential items that never date. Whenever a new season begins buy a few trendy pieces and accessories, the key to the perfect outfit is the accessorising with a beautiful necklace or earrings or lots of bling on the hands! Don't be afraid to trust your gut instinct. If you don't think it looks good on, it probably doesn't and don't rely on others to tell you the truth because they probably won't! Finally, never forget that just because it fits that doesn't mean it looks good always dress to your shape and size.

People would be surprised to learn that...
I do singing voice over's on Nova 96.9, most introductions into the songs - that's me!

My current job is....
I work at Nova 969 radio station in the sales department. It's a fun and vibrant place to work and there is never a dull moment. I also do part time modelling and singing.

I can't live without...
My family & friends because they are the source of joy, happiness and value in my life and I can't imagine not having them around me each day.

The person I look up to most is...
My Mum and Dad. I have learnt everything from them to survive in this challenging world. They have taught me the real meaning of love (outside of emotions and beyond words) forgiveness, patience and grace. My Mum and Dad take the time to listen whether I have a happy or sad story to tell, they will always have my back and be there for me no matter what.

My fashion icon is...
It's a bit of a mix between Brigitte Bardot & Kate Moss. Brigitte with her perfectly tousled hair and megawatt smile and then a bit of Kate Moss thrown into the mix. Whether Kate is wearing a snug, skin-baring strapless dress or sprinting across town in skinny jeans, a vintage tee, and a blazer, she always looks hip and comfortable which is what I try to aim for in the fashion department of life!
I also love Whitney Port - she's gorgeous, intelligent, hard-working and has great fashion sense.

My most prized possession is...
I would say it's the little things that I have been given. Anything from cute doll my grandma gave me when I was 5 all the way through to keeping a business card from when I had an amazing dinner out with my friends and we laughed all night. My most prized possessions are not the ones that are expensive but are they are ones that are meaningful and remind me of the great times I've had.

My hobby is...
Singing! I am currently in the middle of creating a song with a team of producers and writers at Hit City Recording Studios. They are a production house and artist development facility and they specialise in developing talent and music production. Their team of producers are ARIA award winner and have recent credits that include: Jessica Mauboy, Jay Sean, Pitbull, Stan Walker, Nat Bass, Amy Meredith, and many more... The main focus for them is finding and developing new talent, co-writing songs and helping develop talent into major label material. I have started a blog to document my journey, it's www.alexhorderthoughts.blogspot.com if you'd like to check it out!

Favourite movie...
I love Notebook. It is so beautiful and I feel the chemistry between the two characters. I am in love this film and I really love the story line. I cry every time! Oh and Pretty Women, it's an oldie but always a goodie! And I will always love 10 Things I hate About You - I've probably watched in over 100 times.

Favourite shop...
Cue, Zara and Veronica Maine. Their designs are always so cutting edge, so modern and yet classic and defined.

Favourite clothing brand...
Somehow it's the same as most girls, I like the expensive brands that I can't afford to buy! Balmain is one of my favourites, always so funky and chic. Gucci's collections have also been blowing me away over recent seasons and I try to buy more reasonably priced clothing that's inspired by a mix of these two brands.

Favourite food...
On a good day its sushi because it's fresh, light and strangely addictive... also Dumplings and Handmade Noodles from 'Chinese Noodle Restaurant' in Haymarket - they are so yummy and CHEAP! I'm a real sweet tooth and love my chocolate too!

Favourite beauty tip...
Vaseline is your best friend! This is a great and cheap eye makeup remover. It's also great for fixing chapped, scaly lips. Slather on a bunch of Vaseline and then use a toothbrush to massage lips. Wipe the excess off on a tissue. Your lips will be smooth and soft!
