Coming of age on a big stage

For Cannington and Canning Vale designers Betty Tran and Aggie Hongm this week's Perth Fashion Week will be their coming of age.

They have barely being in the Perth Fashion industry a year, but the designers will be teaming up to exhibittheir latest collections on WA's biggest fashion stage.

The inaugural 2012 Savoir Faire Perht Fashion Week offers established and emerging designers the oppurtunity to display their collections on a professional runaway.

The southern suburbs designers furst met when they opened stores side by side in the Carillon Arcade. They said the fashion week would be a big stepping stone for their careers. "We are very excited about having Fashion A-listers sitting in the front row, enjoying our show," Betty Tran said.

"We want to inspire young womento be ambitious. We both started ut from scratch and work hard to achieve our goals." Moi Moi Fine Jewellery Perth director Aggie studied business and administration at Curtin University but was inspired to get into the fashion industry after reading about the success of Moi Moi.

"I was reading a 30 under 30 business entrepreneurs article and noticed harldly any females were recognised in the category, except the owner of Moi Moi interstate, " she said.

"So i flew over to meet her and then knew I wanted to bring it to Perth and create a collection specifically for Perth's unique market. It's all hand-made cocktail, wedding, enamel and bright coloured jewellery."

Fo9r Cannington clothing designer Betty, the fashion week is an oppurtunity to launch her latest label Betty Tran. "I have being waiting for the right moment and now is the time. It has being a jorney of transformation," she said.

"It epitomises the image of new age modern women who are confident, feminine and elegant."

The 2012 Perth Fashion Week will be WA's first ever fashion trade event. It will run from April 19th to 23rd at the Perth Convention Centre.
