Summer is coming to an end and we all know what that means, time for the reddest of all red carpets to be laid, and for all our favourite celebrities to come out dressed to the nines for one extravagant night of all nights - The Oscars.

Here at Moi Moi, we are especially excited, as it is this time of year we draw so much great inspiration in not only fashion but Jewellery trends (and appreciation). We love looking back at memorable Oscars jewellery moments too.

For instance in 1970, the beautiful Liz Taylor made headlines with her Cartier designed 69-carat pear-shaped Diamond pendant, which sold for almost $3 Million, 10 years later. Or more recently, in 1999 when Gwyneth Paltrow walked the red carpet wearing that unforgettable Harry Winston designed 40-carat Diamond necklace, which her Father Bruce Paltrow purchased for her as a gift. Or even sassy Hilary Swank's impressive $250 000 Asprey & Garrard Diamond Necklace from the Oscars ceremony of 2000.

Chinese New Year - The year of the Dragon begins on January 23, 2012. The Emperor of China always uses the dragon as a symbol of his imperial power. Today, it is the ultimate auspicious symbol signifying success and happiness.

On Saturday 28 January at 12pm Carillon City will be hosting Dragon Dancing throughout the centre!

I remembered the first time Betty Tran came into Moi Moi to say 'Hi'. I couldn't stop looking at her beautiful satin digital print top, thinking to myself I really want to get my hands on one!

Betty then mentioned to me that they will be having a fashion parade with Betty Sugar clothing and Belle Bijoux bags and shoes.
After hearing this I knew there was one important element missing to complete the look. This was when Moi Moi joined forces with Perth newest fashion pop up, LaFoi by Betty Sugar and celebrated their first stand alone store launch as well as raised funds to support National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF).

The name of this exclusive event was called LUMIERE DE LA FOI which means light of faith in French, such a beautiful name.

I was very inspired by Taryna Michelle Clarke's (ambassador of NBCF) story of how she battled with breast cancer and at the same time very proud to be part of the event to support NBCF. Moi Moi donated our "Julietta A" pendant and "Eloise A" ring while other exclusive items from local artists and designers have also been donated for the auction. Profits and funds raised on the night through a raffle and auction went directly towards the NBCF.

It was a fun, meaningful and successful night. WA fashionistas were able to preview the exciting new collection from Moi Moi and LaFoi as well as other WA luminaries such as Belle Bijoux and Savoir Faire. We enjoyed champagne and entertainment by musicians from WA...

They say third time's a charm. That must be what Halle Berry is hoping for as her engagement to Olivier Martinez was unveiled this week, revealing her stunning emerald and diamond ring.

This will be the third marriage for Halle having previously been previously married to baseball player David Justice and singer Eric Benet.

Halle's ring is certainly a different style to the average celebrity look but we are seeing more and more couples choose emeralds, rubies and sapphires for their engagement ring.

Our "Acacia" ring, which is alike in design and quality to Halle's engagement ring comes in white or yellow gold to ensure brides-to-be can emulate Halle's look.

Happy new year to all our lovely Moi Moi's! We hope you had a lovely break over Christmas…there's not much of a break for us being in retail but we have been really enjoying the festive atmosphere, and eating some fantastic food.

New years is always a time to reflect on the past year. We had a busy 2011 with our first ever Search for Moi Moi's Mademoiselle's competition resulting in a beautiful photo shoot with our very own Mademoiselle, Marijana; we launched our first cocktail range - the True Colours Collection - which proved very popular for Christmas gifts; Moi Moi Perth celebrated their first birthday; discovered new trends at the Hong Kong Jewellery Trade Fair; our Miabelle brand launched in China; we won the City of Sydney Business Award in our category Retail Fashion for the second time; and most memorable of course was the birth of my beautiful neice, Liv! So we're so proud to have had such a successful and fulfilling year at Moi Moi.

Now we are very excited about what's to come for 2012. We have been working hard to bring you bigger and better things all around at Moi Moi: new products, new collections, and new website…coming soon!

Today is our birthday and we are 7 years old! Can you imagine 7 years old?

We had wanted to be born at 6 pm on the day of 1st December 2004, as it was such an auspicious day. We invited many guests to come and celebrate the birth. It was such a hectic day with chaos everywhere!

As you can see from the photos at 5pm, the place was still in a big mess, displays were a mess and jewellery was nowhere to be seen.

The Moi Moi sign was put up at 5:45pm, which was still panic station! But it was also such a proud moment, after 6 months of building up to this day.

Somehow as though it was by magic the place was ready for the 6pm launch. Many guests turned up including VIP guest Mr Joe Ambar, a representative from Charles and Colvard, whom we have been friends ever since.

At the time, our model was a lady by the name of Melania Knauss, who graced our front display windows. A very stylish lady who later became Melania Trump. Yes, the wife of the man who registered the phrase "You're fired!".

In the last 7 years, we have grown very fast and have evolved into a full service jeweller and expanded our range to include coloured stone jewellery, exquisite enamel silver jewellery, wedding bands an...
